Last week my dreams came true as I was able to travel to The Lake District, somewhere I have longed to go since I was twelve years old. Why? you may ask, I have been obsessed with Beatrix Potter (writer and illustrator of Peter Rabbit and many other children's books) since I was very young. Her paintings have always enchanted me and I've always been impressed by the amazing life she lived. Anyway, it just so happens Beatrix Potters favorite place in the world was The Lake District and in her later life she lived there at Hilltop Farm. Which leads me to the one disappointing piece of this story,my dream to go to her farm and home did not come true. It was closed the one day I was there... beyond sad. But, it was still a wonderful day by the lakes and fields that inspired so many of her stories. I stayed right on the bank of Lake Windermere, (the largest of the lakes) in a little town called Ambleside.
As you can see, we were lucky to have such a beautiful bit of weather in the late fall and I am beyond grateful for the time I was able to spend here no matter how small. The Lake District without a doubt is one of the most beautiful places on earth. So to you Miss. Potter, for preserving this land and inspiring us all with your story. xoxo
